Back in November 2022, we were tasked with removing vegetation from the hillsides of a property in Wellington - mainly made up of broom, gorse and blackberry.
While the views were stunning, the property was very overgrown - so much so that even the paths into the property were indistinguishable, the larger area boundaries were hard to locate - not something you want to misjudge as a wrong move would result in our mulching machine falling down a steep cliff!
We started off by conducting a site assessment to identify any hazards before starting work. We ended up not only clearing distinct access paths into and around the property, but also clearing 2 large open areas.
These were cleared by our all-terrain mulcher and by putting the nutrients back into the ground, helped the areas to start re-grassing back in immediately.
4 months later, and after a summer of a lot of rain, the cleared areas had already grown back thick with tall grasses, wild radish and the shoots of new broom, gorse and blackberry.
This time we used our all-terrain mower to re-establish the paths and open areas. At times the regrown vegetation had managed to get to a height of between 4 - 6ft, and in other places the grass had grown in very thick and tall.
Over the course of 3 days, we finished mowing all the paths and areas back to short grass, transforming the overgrown vegetation into lush lawn.
Future plans are to return in the Spring to start clearing more areas of the property and to do another mow of the areas that have already been cleared. One thing is for sure, the views will still be as spectacular!
